Crickets The mountain retreat near Puerto Vallarta was so quiet at night that all one could hear was the chirping of the snowy tree crickets. These crickets behave in a rather interesting way: The rate at which they chirp depends linearly on the temperature. Early in the evening, John O’Hagan counted 140 chirps per minute and noticed that the temperature was 80°F. Later in the evening the temperature dropped to 75°F, and the chirping slowed down to 120 chirps per minute. Express the temperature T as a function of the rate of chirping r. The temperature that night dropped to a low of 65°F. At approximately what rate were the crickets chirping at that point?
