Introduction:

FMR is abbreviated as field metabolic rate. It is quantitative measurement of a living being’s metabolic rate. It measures total energy expenditure of a marine organism. Generally, FMR is calculated by doubly water method.

Explanation of Solution

From the given data, it is seen that FMR of control female kittiwake is higher than fed female and FMR of control male kittiwake is also slightly high than fed male. This means that control kittiwakes have high metabolic rate as compared to fed kittiwakes. Now, the mean body mass of fed kittiwakes are much higher than mean body mass of control kittiwakes.
