Concept explainers
To identify: The body cavity and the organs enclosed by the body cavity and the structure that separates the superior and inferior body cavities in the given figure.
Introduction: The potential space or compartment in the animal that aids in accommodating organs and their related structure is known as body cavity. They are often filled with a fluid. The ventral and dorsal body cavity is the two largest body cavities in the human body.

Answer to Problem 1CRQ
Pictorial representation: Fig.1 represents the Right plural cavity.
Fig.1: Right plural cavity
Explanation of Solution
The term “plura” refers to the “lungs”. In humans, there exists a pair of lungs on either side of the mediastinum. Each lung is covered by the two layers of pleurae (visceral and parietal) and the space between these two membranes is known as the pleural cavity. The lung that is present in the right side of the body includes the right plural cavity. The plural cavity is also known as the “plural space”. It is a thin cavity enclosing a fluid called plural fluid that helps in lubrication and helps the pleural membrane to slide effortlessly during respiration.

Analysis shows that high levels of the primary transcript that codes for this protein are found in tissue from the brain, muscle, liver, and pancreas.
