Chapter 1, Problem 1.1DQ
Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

An explanation has to be given for, how the experiments of Boyle, Charles, and Avogadro led to the formation of the perfect gas equation of state.

Concept introduction:

According to Boyle’s law of gas molecules,

If the volume of gases in a container is increased then the pressure will decrease at constant temperature and number of moles.

Equation for Boyle’s law is,

            PinitialVinitial=PfinalVfinal

Charles’ law: At constant pressure, the volume of a gas varies directly with its Kelvin temperature.

V1T1=V2T2=K

Avogadro’s law: At constant temperature and pressure, the volume is directly proportional to the number of moles of gas.

Vαn

Ideal gas equation,

PV=nRTWhere,P:PressureV:Volumen:NumberofmolesR:GasconstantT:Temperature
