Concept introduction:
According to phlogiston theory, every combustible substance contains an undetectable material called phlogiston that is released when it is burnt. The quantity of phlogiston in all combustible substances is variable. The substances like charcoal have a high quantity of phlogiston in them and therefore it is highly combustible. The substances like metals that contain less amount of phlogiston in them are slightly combustible.
