To explain:
The distinction between the sciences of anatomy and physiology, and the way functional morphology unites the two.
Introduction:
The study of the basic structural functions of the body is termed as human anatomy. It provides a major base for understanding physiology, the functional relevance of that structure. Physiology and anatomy are together the bedrock of health.
Explanation of Solution
Anatomy is a branch of science that studies the structure of human, animals, and plants, specially revealed by dissection and separation of body parts. It focuses on the size, shape, and the location of the body structure in living organisms. Dissection and separation of body components obtain the knowledge of the anatomy of a living organism. It is a static study. Physiology studies the functions of living beings and their parts. It focuses on physical, chemical, and electrical process in the body of living beings. Understanding the living organism's anatomy is critical in the study of that specific living organism's physiology. It is a dynamic study.
Functional morphology studies how structures like tendons, bones, and muscles can create a broad range of distinct behaviors, including movement, feeding, fighting, and reproduction. Functional morphology integrates ideas from physiology, evolution, growth, physical sciences, anatomy, and synthesizes the different ways in which biological and physical variables communicate in the lives of organisms.
Thus, the anatomy and physiology complement each other; each makes sense of the other, and each molds the other in the course of human development and evolution. Functional morphology deals with the structure of organs, but the functional reasons behind it.
