Step 1
When a reaction proceeds, the reactants convert to products. The amounts of reactants decrease with time while the amounts of products increase with time. At equilibrium, the rate of forward and backward reactions becomes equal. The concentrations of both reactants and products are equal. This state is known as dynamic equilibrium. When a system at chemical equilibrium is disturbed, the system tries to oppose the change caused by the disturbance. This is in accordance with the Le Chattelier’s Principle.
