Expert Solution
Step 1

In the UK, about one-third of animal research is carried out by or funded by the pharmaceutical business. Some of this is fundamental research that looks at healthy biological functions and how diseases develop. The majority, however, has more focused, practical goals and is concerned with the creation of novel medications or vaccines, better techniques of diagnosis, or more effective toxicity testing. We start with a brief summary of advancements from the late 19th century to the present because the technique of creating medicines has evolved greatly over time.

These advancements began to change pharmaceutical research and development in the late 1980s. Efficiency improvements in information technology made it possible to integrate the vastly expanding amounts of data produced by advancements in biologically fundamental knowledge. Data from cutting-edge technologies, including high-throughput chemistry and biology, genomics, pharmacogenetics, improved diagnostic imaging, and the use of bioinformatics, were combined with this information.
