Why are relationships so important in negotiation strategy? Briefly Expain!

Negotiation is not the same as compromise, to be clear. To reach an agreement in a negotiation, each party must offer the other party what they want in return. Compromise is a lose-lose situation because neither party gets exactly what they desire. It's not uncommon for them to find a solution by finding a middle ground between opposing viewpoints. Consider a scenario in which two people want to go out to dinner, but one prefers Middle Eastern cuisine while the other prefers seafood. They finally come to an agreement after much deliberation and order pizza to be delivered. Neither party was compelled to do anything they didn't want to, but neither party received exactly what they wanted, thus the solution isn't perfect. Negotiated solutions typically have both partners picking the restaurant alternately.
