A joint is the point of physical connection between two bones. Joints are made up of the following structures-
Cartilage- The surface of the bone is covered by the cartilage at the joint.
Ligaments- they support the joint and limit the movement of the joint. They connect two bones together.
Synovial membrane- This tissue is responsible for lining the joint and sealing it into a joint capsule. It secrets a fluid called as synovial fluid around the joint for the lubrication.
Synovial fluid- A clear, sticky fluid secreted by the synovial membrane.
Tendons- They are responsible for connecting the joint to the muscles and control the joint movements.
Bursas- They are fluid filled sacs present between bones, ligaments or other close structures. They provide the cushioning effect and prevent friction in a joint.
