The fluid imbalance is caused when there is no balance in the level of the fluid taken into the body to the fluid lost from the body. Certain medical conditions can cause a fluid imbalance which includes surgeries that cause the body to retain the excess amount of fluids, heart failure which leads to fluid collection in the lungs, liver, and blood vessels, diarrhea, vomiting, blood loss which can lead to excess water loss from the body, deficiency of antidiuretic hormone (ADH) which leads to excess of water loss through urine from the body.
