When a d-c motor is tested by the electrical input method, the field rheostat is adjusted to give A. rated speed at full load. B. rated speed at no load. C. maximum speed at minimum load. D. minimum speed at maximum load. Note: I have doubts if it is the letter A or the letter B, can you help me in this question, thanks

Above question is based on DC motor, the major classification of DC motor are
- Series motor
- Shunt motor
- Compound motor
In shunt motor the field winding is connected in parallel with armature winding, in shunt motors due to parallel connection the field winding current remain constant irrespective of any load change.
Series winding turns are kept thicker in turn so the series winding has minimum resistance and most of the supply voltage is available to armature terminal, while in shunt winding is made of thinner wire of higher resistance so that field current in limited and do not saturate the winding.
Shunt motors are used where constant speed application is required.
Compound motors possess the advantage of both series and shunt winding, as it has both series and shunt field winding.
In short shunt, shunt field is made parallel with armature winding whereas in long shunt, shunt winding is in parallel with series combination of armature and series field winding.
