Explanation
Part I)- Texas Revolution is also known as the War of Texas Independence. The war marked the defeat of Mexico and the victory of the Texas colonists. Texas declared itself independent on March 2, 1836. George Childress wrote Texas's declaration of Independence and modeled it after the US's constitution. Lorenzo de Zavala, Texas's vice president, drafted the constitution.
The war with Mexico ended with the defeat of Santa Anna in the Battle of San Jacinto. To ratify the constitution, Interim President Burnet, on July 23, 1836, called for elections.
Part II)As a result of the elections, Sam Houston became the Republic of Texas's first president.
