Bacon's Rebellion is named after its leader Nathaniel Bacon, who was an Englishman who migrated to Virginia in the mid-17th century (1650 s)and a member of the Governor's Council.  During this time in Virginia, the English colony was exploiting native Indian lands including the ones given by the Crown, for tobacco cultivation.
