What role does emotions play in rational choice theories?
In life we tend to make many decisions emotionally, however, several decisions are also a product of rationality and that is related to the rational choice theory originally propunded by Adam Smith, which means choices made by individuals based on their self-interests that will benefit them in the end. People tend to choose among various options and then select the best option which rationally weighs more in terms of their self-benefit. For example, an active smoker decided to quit smoking based on rational choice theory as he found that it will serve his self-interest which helps him to lead a healthy life. Thus in this way rational choice theory is applied to individuals' life decisions.
