What is the origin of biological reproduction, and what necessitated the emergence of reproduction in

Reproduction is a process of formation of new individuals or offspring from existing individuals called as parents. Reproduction can be of two types, sexual and asexual reproduction. Sexual reproduction involves two parents and the offspring produced is similar to both the parents. Asexual reproduction involves only one parent and the offspring is identical to the parent.
Origin of reproduction has been a topic of different perceptions. This is because to trace the origin of reproduction, a large data set including the origin of earth and every organisms that has existed on earth from that time in a sequential manner is required which is not present sufficiently to conclude any theory. The problem also arises when an organism shows two or more modes of reproduction. Stickleback fish is one such example. This fish has shown cases of parthenogenesis whereas it is known to lay eggs and the fertilization occurs externally. Therefore, it cannot be concluded precisely when the reproduction in biological systems originated.
