What is the difference between genotype and phenotype?
Introduction
-Generally the term "Genotype" in biology refers to the genetic make-up of an organism.
-We can also define genotype as the sets of Genes in the DNA which determines the unique trait or the unique characteristics of an organism.
-In biology "gene" is considered as the segment of the DNA which encodes some traits.
-These genotypes which are responsible for the characters of the individual are inherited from the parents.
-Each specific genotype gives rise to a specific phenotypic or physical appearance or character.
Examples:
Some examples of genotype are
1 Eye color: Here the allele may produce brown or blue eye color and is inherited from the parents (Father/mother).
2 Height: Here the allele may give rise to two different physical characters as tall or short(It is also inherited from the offsprings).
