There are two types of ethnographic analysis are used by Social researchers: Conversation analysis and Narrative analysis. The conversation analysis concern the main topics which should be studied. On the other hand, the narrative analysis focus on how and why the selected topics are being represented.
The conversation analysis: The researcher use language in such a way, which can connect every question turn-by-turn as the interaction goes. Its main focus on the selective questions by speaking to the other person or group. The basic components of conversation analysis are:
- The speaking turn,
- The adjacency pair, and
- The sequential imitativeness.
The narrative Analysis: The researcher uses this methodology of analysis to form research in a story form. The main focus of this kind of analysis is: why and how. There are five components of the narrative analysis are:
- The characters,
- The setting,
- The plot,
- The conflict, and
- The resolution.
