Stock's law is a mathematical equation which generally gives a resistance to the drag force of a spherical particles. Simply the resistance to the settlement of the particle grains in a fluid media.

Stock's law states that the settling velocity of a grain varies directly to the directly to the difference between the densities of sand and the fluid and the squre of dimeter. 

Varies inversely to the coefficient of viscosity. 

So Vs= (ρs-ρf)g D2/18μ 

μ= coefficient of viscosity 

D= dimeter 

g= acceleration due to gravity 

ρs= density of the solid 

ρf= density of the fluid
