what is profane ?
what is profane ?

Introduction
The mundane, or something regular, is profane. It belongs to the mundane rather than the supernatural world. “Those thoughts, individuals, habits, and objects that are treated with a daily attitude of commonness, usefulness, and familiarity,” according to the profane or ordinary or ‘unholy.” It's what's not supposed to come into contact with the sacred or take precedence over it. The 'unholy' or 'profane' is thought to contaminate the 'holy' or sacred.' In some way, it is the rejection or subordination of the sacred.
Because of our strong emotional attachment to them, the sacred and profane are inextricably linked. The distinction between the two is vague rather than explicit. The circle of sacred objects, as Durkheim pointed out, cannot be defined once and for all. Its breadth varies indefinitely depending on the faith.
