Expert Solution
Step 1

People generally make number of errors while judging or appraising others, especially when they meet new people. Such errors mostly happened at the organisational level, since people working at the firm generally know each other professionally, and therefore may make mistakes while evaluating others.

Some of the errors are as follows:

Halo effect: If a manager will evaluate/appraise his employee positively or negatively, based on single characteristics then it is called as halo error. Mostly seen at the organisational level.

Contrast effect: when an individual gets evaluated not on the basis of his performance but by comparing his performance with others in the same group. Mostly happened in school exams.

Degree of influence: for example: a person gets easily influenced by his fellow mates because of liking factor, not thinking about the appropriate and inappropriate behaviors.

Being affected by the position: Sometimes, we judge people on the basis of their status in the society. for example: we may believe people at higher level in organisation can seen as strict or cruel.
