What is a good theme for the book the crucible?
The Crucible is set in a theocratic society in which the state and the church are one, and the religion is Puritanism, a rigid, austere strain of Protestantism. Because of the society's theocratic nature, moral laws and state laws are synonymous: sin and the state of one's soul are both concerns of public concern. There is no tolerance for deviance from societal norms, for anyone whose private life does not adhere to established moral principles is a threat not just to the public good, but also to God's rule and true religion.
