What is a good response to? When assessing my county's CHA and CHIP, I saw many things that I had noticed when first researching what public health issue I was going to select. In addition, the CHA also mentioned how excessive drinking is a massive problem in not just the state of Wisconsin, but Dane County as well. They, unfortunately, did not say how they planned to solve this problem specifically, however, they did talk a lot about how there is a dire need for better community infrastructure and better access to mental health services. These are things that I mentioned in my Critical Thinking assignment as with more regular and thorough mental health screenings there is a greater probability of catching alcoholism before it becomes crippling. In addition, another large focus was public transportation and pouring resources into ensuring that children aren't hungry in the summer and that federal assistance like SNAP or EBT is more easily available. All in all, while they didn't fully dive into excessive drinking like I am, they did point out a couple of the solutions that I had also felt like would help those struggling with it.
