What influence do major religions in South Asia have on the culture, economy, and politics of those countries?
South Asia is indeed the hub of several major religious traditions worldwide, especially Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. A devotion to holy pictures and the building of temples are the most characterized traits of mature Hinduism.Hinduism has an extensive male and female pantheon but Shiva and Vishnu are the pre-eminent ones.
Although religious traditions influence Indian culture, it is essential to remember that in the 1st century, when apostle St Thomas went east, Christianity was founded in India. From the beginning of the 8th century, Islam too became an important power in South Asia.
