what does wave summation & treppe occur whe
what does wave summation & treppe occur whe the frequecy of the muscle stimulation is increased ?
a. lactic acid bulid up
b. residual Ca+ present
d. tetanus condition set up

Wave summation- In rapid successions, the stimulus is applied before the relaxation phase of the muscle ends. This is called as wave summation.
This causes increase in tension of the muscle. The second stimulus applied is of same intensity but before the completion of the relaxation phase of the first stimulus.
The purpose of the wave summation is the production of smooth, continuous contractions of muscle.
Muscle treppe- its also called as stair-case effect. Its a condition where there is increased muscle contractions as a result of multiple stimulations of same strength. Therefore the second stimulus causes more contraction than the first and with increasing frequency the strength of contraction also increase. There is presence of relaxation phase in between unlike the wave summation.
