What does it mean to be cultural?

Expert Solution
INTRODUCTION

Sociology is an independent discipline that focuses on several aspects of society.  Culture is the one with which every individual is associated with. It makes the people acquire skills and knowledge that are required to communicate at the early stage of life with the people in the cultural setting. It is the one that shapes individual behavior.

EXPLANATION

Culture teaches the individual with the skills and knowledge to communicate with others in the cultural setting in the early days of life. It makes the individual know the rites and rituals, the food, and fashion of the culture. It also represents the individual's identity in a multicultural setting. It makes the individual to be associated with the group, which develops a collectivity and we feeling among the members of the cultural group. Being cultural is exhibiting all the behaviors within the limits of the norms and values that are transferred to the individual by his/her culture. The individual strictly follows cultural beliefs and values, participates in the cultural ceremonies, rites, and rituals, and inculcates the cultural traits in all aspects of the individual life. The individual who is meant to be cultural uses his/her culture as an identity to represent him/herself in the larger public domain. The individual always works to protect and promote his/her cultural traits by representing them in diverse cultural settings.
