Howard Zinn (1922–2010) was an American historian, playwright, philosopher, socialist thinker, and World War II veteran. Zinn considered himself an anarchist and a democratic socialist. He wrote extensively about the civil rights movement, the anti-war movement, and the labor history of the United States. He was very interested in the subject of history. He said that students must know about the history and events of their country.
