The nervous system is a complex network of nerves and cells that carry messages to and from the brain and spinal cord to various parts of the body. The nervous system includes both the Central nervous system and Peripheral nervous system. Cranial nerves is a part of peripheral nervous system. It connects the brain to other parts of the body, such as head, neck, trunk. There are 12 pairs of cranial nerves in human body. One pair of olfactory nerves are further divided into two sides of the body, left and right olfactory nerves. The 12 pairs of cranial nerves are: Olfactory nerve, optic nerve, oculomotor nerve, trochlear nerve, trigeminal nerve, abducens nerve, facial nerve, auditory nerve, glossopharyngeal nerve, vagus nerve, accessory nerve and hypoglossal nerve.
