What are the various types of bias when collecting data?
Bias is a tendency of sample statistic to underestimate or overestimate the population parameter.
For example, if we to collect the data of salary of American graduates in order to find the average salary of population, and the sample average either gives us overestimated figure or underestimated figures so this can be said to be biased data.
Types of bias with example
1) Selection Bias:
Whenever we do the sampling, every person of that population should get the equal chance of being selected. But some time due to inappropriate sampling method some of the people or groups of people are left intentionally and unintentionally because of which sample does not reflect the correct feature population.
For example: if we ask people’s opinion about current govt and for that we carry a phone survey, now in such situation those people are left who do not have accessibility to phone or who do not check their phone regularly.
