Step 1

Both  problem-solving and decision making are management techniques are generally used in every department & in every situation. They both go side by side, indeed they are the two sides of same coins. If there is a problem, there must be solution i.e. make decision to solve the problem. Every time we make decision about somethings which poses some problems before us.

Therefore following stages of problem solving can be observed.

1.) Identification of problem.

2.) Assessment of problem i.e. decide whether is it controllable or non-controllable.

3.) Looking for the options

4.) Assessment of the every possible alternative.

5.) Make decision regarding selection of problem solving technique.

6.) Evaluate the solution.

Decision Making: On the other hand decision making is a technique to choose the best alternative to solve the problem. For every problem we make decision. From the beginning to end we are supposed to make decision whether its professional or non- professional. In every situation we face such situation where we have to make decisions.
