What are the impacts of the Industrial Revolution to the government?

Expert Solution
INTRODUCTION

The traditional societies are mostly hunting-gathering societies. These people were dependent on the natural resources available for their sustenance. With the change in the population size, there developed a necessity for the government's emergence to monitor and manage the resources that are available to make them accessible to every individual.

EXPLANATION

The pre-industrial societies were agricultural societies. The people were dependent on it for food and also employment opportunities. With the advent of industrialization, a new form of mechanized production has shaped the whole organization of human life. There developed new urban spaces of living for the people. It also introduced new economic opportunities that also led to the shift in the traditional religious-based stratification systems to the class-based stratification systems. Industrialization also shaped the government and the governing patterns of the people in the society. There are several impacts it led to on the government.

  1. In pre-industrialized societies, the governments are majorly focused on maintaining peace in the society and protecting the geography from foreign invasion.
  2. this lead to the emergence of new social problems in society. This impacted the government to focus on collecting the revenues and design social policies to curb social problems like poverty, unemployment, and lack of access to food.
  3. industrialization had benefitted the dominant economic group. This made the lower section get into further distress; the government has the responsibility to make the resources be shared with the weaker sections of society to make them sustainable.
  4. It also led to the emergence of larger economic activity and trade with the other countries. this made the government monitor the economic activity and interfere in it to boost the economy by encouraging healthy participation in the economy.
  5. the industrialization has also led to a change in political thought. It installed the dominant western so-called development and directed the governments of many developing countries to move in the direction of development by altering all the indigenous cultural and social aspects of the societies they govern.
    1. It also introduced the Bureaucratic form of the government with higher complexities having different structures.
