What are the advantages of conflict theory?
Conflict theory is a sociological perspective and a major world view that understands society not in terms of the stable, organized composition of the whole by its parts but in terms of unevenness and existence of social inequality in society which is prevalent very much in the contemporary class-based society. The major proponent of this view is Karl Marx, and his analysis of society in terms of social classes divided based on economic power. There are resources needed for production and higher class positions. Those who have these are economically powerful and dominate others who are exploited in economic production. Today, this concept or school of thought is also extended to study race, gender and ethnicity, and a plethora of other concepts.
