Many different varieties of inhalers are available in the market. These include:-
1:- Metered-Dose Inhalers
2:- Dry Powder Inhaler
3:- Soft Mist Inhalers
The MDI contains a pressurized canister having medicine in it and a plastic holder with a mouthpiece. It gives a reliable and consistent dose of medication when sprayed. They are portable and convenient, less expensive than dry powder inhalers and no preparation is needed when using this type of inhaler.
Dry powder inhaler is a type of inhaler used commonly to deliver medications like inhaled corticosteroids into the lungs. This is breath-activated and are generally easier to use than the MDI and cause fewer irritant effects.
A soft mist inhaler releases a slow moving mist when inhaled and is commonly used in nebulizers.
