What are the changes society need to make about racism?
Racism is a convoluted belief that race is the determinant of human capacities and ethnic differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race over the others. The lighter the skin tone the greater the privileges. This is institutionalized by allowing one group to dominate the other. Racial or ethnic groups can identify with each other from other groups because of commonalities such as ancestry, language, history, society, culture, region, religion, etc. The term race usually refers to physical differences of a group within society that are significant. On the other hand, ethnicity describes shared distinct culture and attributes the distinctive and many identifying traits that are unique to each group. The term is sometimes used interchangeably, but not all sociologists do so. Race and ethnicity have had a deep impact on American society and have been strained since America was populated by European settlers.
