The Sepoy Rebellion is also known as the Indian Rebellion of 1857 and refers to one of the major uprisings in the Indian subcontinent against British Rule. The mutiny began on May 10, 1857, and lasted till November 1, 1858. One of the major consequences of the mutiny was that the power or the rule of the subcontinent was transferred from the British East India Company to the crown.
