We did a titration experiment on the percent acetic acid in a vinegar brand. For the titrant, we used 1M NaOH while the solution of the analyte contains 5mL of the vinegar solution with 20 mL of distilled water and 5 drops of phenolphthalein. After titration, 3.7mL of NaOH was used before the solution in the flask turned pale pink. My questions are: What is the mass percent of acetic acid in the vinegar? What would be the effect on the percent acetic acid if 25 mL of vinegar had been used instead of 5 mL? kindly explain.

Follow-up Question

Wait, so if the formula is correct, therefore changing the volume of vinegar to 25 mL would also change its mass. which means that:

mass of vinegar = 1.006 * 25 mL = 25.15 grams

therefore:

the mass percent of acetic acid = 0.222g/25.15g =0.008827%

therefore, changing the mass of the vinegar leads to a change in mass percent, no?

could you explain your answer further about the mass percent not changing.
