Chloroplasts are the plant organelles that help in the photosynthesis process. This along with mitochondria was evolved by the endosymbiosis process. Both these organelles help to produce ATP. However, the structure of chloroplast is a little bit more complex than the mitochondria. Both chloroplast and membrane have outer and inner membrane layers but chloroplast has an extra third membrane called the thylakoid membrane.
The thylakoid membrane is the internal membrane system. This consists of a network of flattened discs called thylakoids. Each thylakoid is arranged in stacks called grana. This membrane looks similar to prokaryotes membrane layer and is made of mostly phospholipids and galactolipids. It is the site for the light-dependent reaction of photosynthesis because it harbours the protein complex required for this reaction.
