Transcribed Image Text:Your friend Jamaal has applied to work for a
pyrotechnics company who make fireworks.
Jamaal has been told that the company wants
to interview him, but in order to qualify for the
interview he must first solve a pyrotechnics
puzzle for them. The puzzle has 2 parts:
1. Jamaal must place the following
substances in order from highest to lowest
energy light emission: LiCl, NaCl, KCI,
Srcl,, Cacl,, Cucl,, s, and Fe.
2. Jamaal must help the company identify a
bottle of unknown chemical that was found
in one of their labs. They know the chemical
is one of the substances in the list, but they
don't know which one. The only writing
that is visible on the label of the bottle is
590 nm.
Jamaal is not a chemist, but he has heard that
different elements or compounds can give off
different colors of light when they burn and he
would like to investigate this. He knows that
color is somehow related to wavelength and
energy, but he doesn't understand the
relationship. He has hired you as a consultant to
help him determine the relationship between
color, wavelength, and energy so that he can
solve the puzzle and qualify for his interview.
