This many bones are associated with the structure indicated by the arrows: Copyright Nietsen & Miller
The skeletal system of the body consists of bones and joints. The bones are the vital body parts that are responsible for providing structural support to the soft tissues and organs present in the body. In an adult human body, there are a total of 206 bones that form the skeleton. This skeleton system, apart from providing body support, also facilitates the movement of the body by interacting with the muscular system of the body. The tendon is a fibrous connective tissue responsible for connecting muscle to bone, therefore connecting the two systems. Apart from aiding the body movement and providing structural support, the skeletal system is also responsible for the storage of minerals such as calcium or phosphorus.
