First of all, what do "fairness" and "justice" really mean in context of the judicial system? One seems to point more towards what is deserved versus the concept of equity. With procedural justice in particular it often is more about whether or not we perceive our experiences with the courts and the justice system as a whole as fair. Experiences such as how the court treats us, how the court listens to us, and how unbiased the courts are may matter more than "winning" our case in some instances. According to polling data we also care about factors such as efficiency, transparency, jury integrity, concerns of bias in decision making and application of the law, ethical standards, and more.
