Expert Solution
INTRODUCTION

Researchers employ different scientific methods to collect data based on the requirements of the research study that is being conducted. There are 2 important research methods, 1) Non-experimental research methods and 2) experimental research methods.

In non experimental research, the researcher does not conduct a study in a controlled settings where independent variables are manipulated to see its effects on the dependent variable. Non experimental research methods involve descriptive research, correlational study, qualitative research and ex-post facto research.

Experimental research are on the other hand conducted in a controlled setting and the researcher manipulates independent variable to study its effects on the dependent variable and thereby establishing a cause and effect relationship. Experimental research methods involve true experimental research, quasi experimental research, etc.

The important methods and techniques of collecting data in case of non experimental research are, 1) observation method, 2) Survey method, 3) Field studies and 4) Case study.

The important methods and techniques of collecting data in case of experimental research are, 1) Laboratory experiments, 2) Field experiments
