Question
  1. The set of all vectors in R squared  that satisfy 3x+4y=1 is a subspace of R squared .

    True

    False

Expert Solution
Step 1

1. The set of all vectors in R squared that satisfy  3x+4y=1  is not a subspace of R squared.  i.e. The given statement is "False".

 The points  (1/3, 0) and (0, 1/4) satisfy the equation  3x+4y=1 , but  (1/3, 0) + (0, 1/4) = (1/3, 1/4) doesn't satisfy the equation, since  3×(1/3) + 4×(1/4) = 2. So, This doesn't form a subspace of R squared.
