The outer layer of your skin is the epidermis: a keratinized stratified squamous epithelium. The epidermis is made up of 4-5 layers with different types of cells. For the image and diagram below, label each layer of the epidermis and its cells: Layers = A-E, Cells = #1-7 2- 4- 5- 6 7- V [ Choose ] 1 Spiny cell Stratum granulosum Granular cell 3 Stratum lucidum 4 Stratum corneum Stratum spinosum 5 Skin Stem cel| Dendritic cell (AKA: Langerhans cell) 6 Horny cell 7 Melanocyte Tactile cell (AKA: Merkel cell) Stratum basale в [ Choose] ( Choose] D | Choose ] E [ Choose)
Skin has two major tissue layers: one is epidermis which is on then outer side, and originated from ectoderm. Another layer is the inner dermis which has originated from mesoderm.
Epidermis is a thin layer of epithelial tissue no with no blood vessels. The outermost layer of skin is composed with dead squamous epithelial cells which form the skin surface and has fibrous proteins in the cells, like keratin. There is another layer below the skin surface which is called the basement membrane. It is composed of living columnar epithelial tissue. The innermost epithelial layer of skin also has some specialized cells for pigmentation of skin which are called as melanocytes.
