the vehicle layout e.g. front engine, rear wheel drive.
Propeller Shafts – consists of a long tube or connecting tubes with joints at each end. Label the
drawing of a typical propeller shaft:
Complete and label this view of a
Hookes type joint to show bearing
and cap position.
Close inspection of a propeller shaft shows that joints at each end are in an alignment. If the
propeller shaft has been assembled incorrectly it will result in failure.
With the aid of sketches and sine/cosine wave diagrams, show how driveline vibrations are
cancelled out when the joints are in alignment.
