Expert Solution
Step 1

Abortion is legalised under the "Act " known as "MTP" that is Medical termination of pregnancy .

MTP is Defined as the Deliberate termination of pregnancy by a registered medical practitioner when it is life-threatening to either and foetus.

As per MTP Act, there are certain conditions in which abortion can be performed these are as follows.

1. Medical conditions:- such is Any Congenital heart disease to mother, Uncontrollable Pregnancy Induced Hypertension and Uncontrollable Diabetes Mellitus to Mother.

2. Eugenic condition:-  In which there's any substantial risk to foetus to be born handicapped or to become mentally retarded after birth.

3.Humanitarian condition- Example:- Pregnancy following Rape of Incest pregnancy.

4. Failure of Contraception

5.Socioeconomic Conditions.

2Yes, Abortion is legalised in South Carolina. However South Carolina bans Abortion after 21 weeks and 6 days of pregnancy, As per it's current policy.

These 21weeks and 6 days is known as the "Period of Gestation" these days can be counted from First day of last menstrual period(LMP).

So, according to this Policy of South Carolina if any women is pregnant and wants to get aborted due to any of the above reasons she can only undergo through Abortion if her pregnancy or Period of gestation is less than 21 weeks and 6 days.

There are certain other conditions which are also mentioned in current policy these are as follows:-

* In case of Minor (if a woman is less than 17 years of age) Abortion can only be performed after the permission of a Parent or Legal guardian.

* If getting permission by a parent or Guardian is not possible then Judicial Bypass should be seeked.

* In South Carolina it's also Legal to Leave the place (South Carolina) And get Abortion done Out of State.

It was observed that Not all the abortions that occurred in South Carolina were provided to State Residents:Some of other state's people are also got Aborted and some residents  of South Carolina have traveled to another state for an abortion.

If i talked about the similarly of Abortion in Other state like in Colorado.

In this State as per the new Abortion policy, Abortion is legalised at all the stages of pregnancy.

It's one of the few state where late abortion can be performed.

But if Talk about the state Politics, the Colorado Democratic Party largely supports access to abortion while the Colorado Republican Party embraced hardline anti- abortion stances which have included proposing laws to restrict abortion in the state.

So Difference in performing an Abortion in both of these state is:-

South Carolina abortion is legalised only before 21 weeks and 6 days whereas in Colorado the abortion can be performed at any stage of pregnancy upto Term, without any restrictions.

Similarity between both of these states in performing Abortion is :- It is only be legalised if it falls under the above mentioned Five categories.
