Culture is the combination of an organization's beliefs and values that guides the manner in which people within the organization transact with each other. The strategy adopted by a company should harmonize with its culture, so that the objectives can be achieved effectively. However, as strategy cannot be static, so also the organizational culture. It needs to change to keep pace with the new strategy. The steps toward changing the organizatioal culture should be such that employees can follow the requirements of the new strategy.
The main steps in the changing of the organizational cuture are as follows:
1. Define the change in the culture with respect to the strategy required. List out the values and beliefs that shall be the backbone of the new culture.
2. Create awareness about the new culture among the employees and various other stakeholders of the system.
3. Indicate how the new culture will be reflected in the organizational structure and how adherence to the new framework will be measured.
