Expert Solution
Step 1

After the American independence, the war ended on American land between American soldiers and British soldiers, but the Conflict was continued between these two great Nations especially on the issue of trade. Specially conflict happened on the sea between American ships and the British ships. So many times British Navy destroyed American ships by attacking them. British ships also stop American Merchants to do trading by seizing Americans' different ships.  George Washington wants to solve these problems peacefully by a new Treaty. So George Washington sent Chief Justice John Jay to Great Britain to solve this problem and other several issues by new Treaty and negotiation. The new Treaty was written by Hamilton and negotiated by Jay, that's why The Treaty was called John Jay's Treaty also called Jay's Treaty. It was signed on November 19, 1794.  According to the Treaty of John Jay's, Great Britain allowed Americans to trade with Great Britain on a most favored nation basis. In return, the United States also gave the most favored nation trading status to Britain. This treaty not only averted war with Britain, on the other hand, Britain also agreed to compensate for American ships that they had destroyed.
