So George Washington sent Chief Justice John Jay to Great Britain to solve this problem and other several issues by new Treaty and negotiation. The new Treaty was written by Hamilton and negotiated by Jay, that's why The Treaty was called John Jay's Treaty also called Jay's Treaty. It was signed on November 19, 1794. According to the Treaty of John Jay's, Great Britain allowed Americans to trade with Great Britain on a most favored nation basis. In return, the United States also gave the most favored nation trading status to Britain.
