Romeo Vecht was a Jewish boy during World War II who was captured by Nazi forces and imprisoned in Spa, Belgium.
Before hearing his story, recall the following information from earlier in this unit:

Early in the war, German forces pushed through
France and trapped Allied troops against the
English Channel, which separates France and
England. Military and civilian boats evacuated the
troops from the French coast at Dunkirk and
brought them to England.
On D-Day in June 1944, Allied troops landed on
the beaches in France and began taking territory
back from German occupation.
As the war in Europe neared its end, Allied forces
advanced toward Germany from two sides: the
Eastern Front and the Western Front.
