provide a response to the following paragraph  While reading chapter 17, overcoming exclusion what intrigued me the most was about older adults and how they face a serve level of discrimination. To add on older adults will experience an unequal treatment in employment and may face prejudice and or discrimination. Also older people share a deep sense of solidarity with each other. Its interesting how the chapter talks about how everyone will eventually belong to this group. Furthermore one day we will all claim the status of being an older person. If you were young and never experienced discrimination then once you claim the ascribed status of being an older person, you are going to experience discrimination first hand. It was unfortunate to read the rest of the chapter and see how it talks about ageism and why young people have a uneasiness to becoming old. One example of ageism is when people will talk to old people slowly and use simple words. Old people find this to be patronizing and insincere. I found the chapter to be and interesting read.
