2 • Use a protractor to record the angle at the base of the triangle.
3. Label the bold vector "hyp" (for hypotenuse). Label the side opposite the
measured angle "opp" (for opposite). Label the remaining side that is next to
(or adjacent to) the angle "adj".
4• Since cos 0 = adj / hyp , calculate what the length of adj should be (hint:
multiply both sides by hyp)
5• Since sin 0 = opp / hyp , calculate what the lengths of opp should be (hint:
multiply both sides by hyp)
6• Confirm that these last two calculations match the length of the sides you
measured on the triangle on the datasheet.
(Please note: if you switch the measured angle of the triangle to the top, then the
labels for the horizontal and vertical sides have to change, and sin and cos would also
switch places)
